Michael W Jones reports today that Apple, is trying to convince the television studios to allow iTunes to lower the price of single episodes, from all television series to just 99 cents. Executives are said to be hesitant at this point but Apple is convinced that the increase in use that would be bought about by lower prices, would easily offset the loss in profits that the studios are expressing their concerns about.

There are more issues involved of course. Cable companies would not be happy with such full on access to content they traditionally monopolized. Advertizing on television would surely suffer as a result, the problem is on that will most likely take some time to resolve.

Can Apple make 99 cent TV shows work ?
